Yudhoyono

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Saturday expressed condolences to the family of former state secretary Moerdiono who died on Friday in Singapore.

"The president shared the family's grief over the demise of Moerdiono and extended his condolences," Presidential spokeperson Julian Aldrin Pasha told state news agency Antara on Saturday.

But Julian said he was not certain whether the president was to pay his last respects to the late Moediono because his body would reportedly be taken directly to the Kalibata Heroes cemetery upon arrival from Singapore.

Moerdiono passed away at Singapore`s Gleneagles hospital at 7.40 pm local time on Friday after being treated for a complicated combination of illnesses.

Henry Yosodiningrat, a lawyer of Moerdiono's family, said on Friday night, Moerdiono's wake was held in the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.

Born on August 19, 1934 in Banyuwangi, East Java, Moerdiono was minister/state secretary for two terms in the fifth and sixth development cabinet from 1993 to 1998.
